40 Hour Community Service
Revisions to Community Involvement Graduation Requirements for 2021-2022:
For the 2021-2022 school year, the 40-hour community involvement graduation requirement is being adjusted so that students will not be adversely impacted by the ongoing challenges related to COVID-19. Specifically, for students graduating in the 2021-2022 school year, the community involvement graduation requirement will be reduced to a minimum of 20 hours of community involvement activities. This change recognizes that graduating students may have had barriers to earning their community involvement hours during the last school year and that there may be continued barriers during this school year.
The requirement for the 40-hour of community involvement will return for students graduating in the 2022-2023 school year
Students are encouraged to begin volunteering during the summer between Gr. 8 and Gr. 9 and to accrue these hours regularly through out the four years of high school. Please review the brochure below to understand what is considered an approved volunteer activity. Students may print off the form found here (or pick one up from the Main Office) complete it and hand it back in to either the Main Office staff or at the Guidance office. Hours will be logged and will appear on the student’s final report card of each semester. Have questions that aren’t answered in the brochure? Please contact your guidance teacher for more information.
